Deck Mount vs. Wall Mount Bathroom Vanity Faucets
When remodeling your bathroom, one of the decisions you will want to make upfront is whether you would like to have your contractor install a wall mount or deck mount faucet. Deck mounts will be installed on either the countertop of your vanity or on top of the sink and wall mount faucets will be installed on the wall behind the vanity and extend over the sink. While both are equally functional and come in a variety of styles and finishes, this is a decision you will want to think through before jumping in.
Wall mount faucets are currently trending but there is some additional work involved in the process as well as some additional costs related to the extra labor. One of those costs will be to have a plumber move the supply lines to the desired location where you want to install the fixture. Another item that may increase the project budget will be additional tile and labor for a higher backsplash. You can theoretically install a fixture directly onto drywall, but that is not advisable as it will probably not wear well over time as it will likely come into contact with water on a regular basis. On the other hand, many will argue the extra costs are well worth it since you are installing a faucet that will read more like a piece of art than a plumbing fixture. You could also argue that said fixture may increase the resale of your home, if designed well.
If you have any small children in your home, it will be harder for them to access a wall mount faucet, so keep that in mind. This might count as a bonus for some parents. But not having the faucet sitting on the countertop will make it easier to clean as there is less to clean around.
